The Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas might be closing this year

Richard Abowitz for the LA Times:
I reached out to the Hilton to find out if in fact it plans to close the "Star Trek" restaurant, bar, museum, ride and souvenir shop. I also wanted to know if it does close "Star Trek," what will become of the massive amount of floor space that becomes available to the casino. In response, I got the noncommittal: "Their ["Star Trek: The Experience"] lease ends in December. Nothing to announce beyond that."

Sad, but not unexpected. I've been there twice and enjoyed it both times. The attraction is goofy fun and afterward you can enjoy delicacies like Onion Rings of Betazed while Klingons prowl around looking for photo ops, and then buy Borg Teddy Bears. But the last time I went, maybe four years ago, I noticed that there was no one in line.
