Burger King's Singing in the Shower (link roundup)

Burger King has a site that features a woman in a bikini singing in the shower. Via.

And a few more links:

1. Warren Ellis' email list used to be great fun. He'd regularly send out drunken ramblings, even occasionally include a short story. But roughly a year ago, his emails were reduced to linkspam (check out an article I wrote for Wired, please visit my forum, etc). I replied a few months ago, saying that his emails weren't much fun anymore. He promptly replied, suggesting I unsubscribe if I didn't like it. So I did. He's now apparently announced that he's abandoning the emails entirely.

2. And in other weird emails news, Nakatomi sent out an email about a new Masters of the Universe print. Six paragraphs into the email, it says, "DON'T REPORT ON THIS PRINT!"

3. Thundercats movie concept art by Charlie Wen. Via.

Video of a soccer goalie distracting shooters with cartwheels and other gyrations. The shooters repay him in kind. Via.

And a few more links:

1. Man managed to kill a woman under police protection in Los Angeles.

2. And in other fun Southern California news, "4 of 5 San Jacinto council members indicted in corruption probe."

3. Yes, that $1 double cheeseburger deal at Burger King is incredible. So incredible, franchisees are suing the parent company to try to stop the deal. Via.

Candy Corn traffic cones (link roundup)

Candy corn traffic cones - - more photos in this gallery. Via.

And a few more links:

1. Video of someone trying the Windows 7 Whopper. Via.

2. Penelope Trunk:
The farmer broke up with me five times the first five months we were together, last year. So I learned that he had huge commitment issues.

I tried to do the advisable thing to do when you’re with someone who has commitment issues. I tried to fall in love with someone else. But I didn’t. I only missed the farmer more.

So I told myself that it’s okay to be with someone who has commitment issues, as long as I am having fun.

But my kids grew to love the farm, and the farmer, almost as quickly as I did. This makes sense. My oldest son was with me on my first visit to the farm, and if you have ever been on a working farm you know that to kids, it’s like Disney World.
Want to know what she decided to do? Via.

3. Supposedly, U2's latest four months of touring has earned $300 million, which is just enough to cover the cost of the tour. Via.

*Previously: Candy Mountain Massacre the game.

*Buy U2 concert posters at eBay.

Windows 7 Whopper (link roundup)

2. You can now play Bioware's free webgame Dragon Age Journeys. (I lost interest almost immediately.)

New SpongeBob toys from Burger King

Coming next week (I think), new SpongeBob toys at Burger King. I'm actually not a fan of SpongeBob or his show (every episode I've seen seems to feature him as a moron torturing people), but these figures are about as good as the last several sets of vinyl toys released by Kidrobot.

*Previously: Lego Plankton.

*Buy SpongeBob toys at eBay.

Toy design can be complicated

I mentioned yesterday that Burger King kid's meals currently come with toys based on the Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs movie. The sailboat made out food will be familiar to anyone who has read the book (I've read the book roughly 100 times myself, although I don't care for the various changes to the text that were made in the revised version):

But hold on a second. The boat in the book was topped by a pennant made of bacon. What's that on top of the Burger King boat? Cucumber?

In fact, the original design featured pepperoni and bacon:

I'm guessing (and only guessing) that the last minute change was made so as not to offend Jews and Muslims who can't eat pork or mix meat and dairy.

Burger King jersey for Getafe

You probably saw photos of this flip-over zombie t-shirt for Resident Evil all over the web a few weeks ago:

Well, Burger King sponsors a Spanish soccer team called Getafe, and the team's jersey features a similar design:

That's right, when a player pulls the jersey over his head, he displays the King:

Relatedly, here's a Burger King/Getafe commercial:

Charmingly horrendous Devastator toy

The first sentence of Roger Ebert's one-star review of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments."

The charmingly horrendous Burger King kid's meal Devastator seems to be a perfect match for the review.

Old Poolboy (link roundup)

Clever ad by Ogilvy for Viagra.

And a few more links:

1. This line from Roger Ebert's Transformers 2 review deserves highlighting: "There are many great-looking babes in the film, who are made up to a flawless perfection and look just like real women, if you are a junior fanboy whose experience of the gender is limited to lad magazines."

2. New JLU 6-Packs Coming to Target in August include Gentleman Ghost. And Walmart exclusive DC Universe figures will include Robotman (no photos yet).

3. Four Twitter icons. Via.
