Here's a good example for why I don't let Google put ads in my feed

Does anyone at the LA Times subscribe to their own feed? Do they really want news posts to look like this:

The story is pretty interesting, concerning a woman named Sonia Rios Riske. Her first husband was shot to death while visiting her family in the Philippines. 19 years later, a second husband was similarly shot to death in the Philippines. And now she's been shot and killed in Los Angeles. Her grandnephew, an active-duty Navy sailor, has been arrested for the crime.

*Previously: Philippines to get its own version of Playboy. Without nudity.

*Buy pulp magazines at eBay.

Stylish Medusa (link roundup)

Stylish Medusa by Brian Gubicza, available on a button at Etsy.

And a few more links:

1. Kiwis are really cute.

2. Courtesy of Annalee Newitz, I learned that Ben Edlund (creator of The Tick) wrote for Angel, Firefly, and now Supernatural. (The black and white Supernatural episode this season was terrific.)

3. Lots of revolting photos of a whole chicken in a can. Relatedly, Gizmodo is hosting a Photoshop contest to see if anyone can come up with something more revolting to put in a can.

4. At least one flu expert says paper masks "don't keep viruses away, they keep people away."

*Previously: What it looks like when you get an Amish computer virus.

*Buy plush kiwis at eBay.

Cool skateboard deck (link roundup)

Skateboard deck by Doublenaut for the disposable art show in Toronto. Underneath the bomb is a collage made from old war time ads from the 1940’s. Here's the Doublenaut shop.

And a few more links:

1. 31-year-old Lila Rose goes undercover at Planned Parenthood clinics, tells the workers that she's 13 and was was impregnated by a 31-year-old, secretly films the encounters, and then posts them on YouTube. Her hope (and the hope of her backers, who she apparently doesn't want to discuss) is that by showing the counselors do not report the apparent statutory rapes to the authorities (as required), she will undermine the concept of legalized abortion. You can read about it here and watch videos here.

2. Porcelain jellyfish.

3. Here's the short ads for Flash Forward that aired during Lost.

4. A handy overview of copyright, specifically as it applies to puppets.

*Previously: Dharma Initiative advertising.

*Buy puppets at eBay.

Yes, I do have a Twitter feed

For those who have asked, yes I do have a Twitter feed, and I've been convinced to experiment with it.
